Welcome! I am the holder of the Canada Research Chair in Supply Chain Analytics, a professor in the Department of Logistics and Operations Management at HEC Montréal, and an adjunct professor in the Department of Computer Science and Operations Research at Université de Montréal. I am also a scientific advisor in AI at IVADO Labs, and I have been a scientific consultant at JDA (now Blue Yonder) and a scientific fellow at Element AI (now ServiceNow). I actively collaborate with international companies and serve as an advisor for several startups in applied ML/AI, analytics and supply chains.
Before joining HEC Montréal, I was a postdoctoral associate at MIT in the SMART research unit, a visiting postdoc at the Operations Research Center and LIDS, and subsequently a data scientist at JDA.
Research interests
My research focuses on, but is not limited to:
- Supply chain and retail analytics and optimization: demand forecasting, inventory management, online fulfillment, transportation, routing, and resilient supply chain network design
- Integrated and end-to-end supply chain planning, e.g. production-distribution, network inventory optimization, material requirements planning (MRP) and distribution resource planning (DRP)
- Data-driven optimization under uncertainty, e.g. stochastic programming, robust optimization and Markov decision processes
- Algorithms and decomposition approaches for large-scale problems, e.g. Benders decomposition, column generation, stochastic dynamic programming, branch-and-cut and branch-and-price
Industry collaboration
I actively work with companies on supply chain and business analytics/AI & optimization problems. Collaborations range from scientific advisory roles and focused projects to research partnerships, which can be co-funded through programs such as Mitacs and NSERC Alliance. Examples of work from industrial collaborations include machine-learning aftermarket demand forecasting with Bombardier, supply chain simulation at Princess Auto, robot scheduling in an automated kitchen, demand sensing at a Canadian retailer and EV charging-station location with Hydro-Québec; more are on the publications page.
Research funding
My research is supported by grants from NSERC, SSHRC, IVADO, Prompt, Mitacs and HEC Montréal, as well as industrial funds.
